Cookies and Spatulas: The Winners
Written by joythebaker on April 15, 2009 – 8:57 am -Do you ever have those mornings when the snooze button seems to go off every two minutes, your hair is simply inconsolable, and you discover that your favorite plaid shirt that you’ve had for half your life is now too ripped to wear and be cool? Do you have those mornings when you’d just like to go back to bed for another 6 hours, wake up and call it a re-do? Yea… me too.
On those mornings, believe it or not, I turn to you all for a smile. You’ve got words of wisdom. You’ve got jokes. You’ve got what I need to get through those off kilter mornings. Thank you. Really.
I wish I could thank each and every one of you a big batch of my chocolate chip cookies, but because that seems like too daunting a task for a morning like this, I’ll have to put the recipe in your hands and encourage you to bring some chocolate chip love to your kitchen on my behalf.
The winners of the chocolate chip cookie and super cool spatula giveaway are:

Hi Joy,
You spoil us, you really do.
I’m here is rainy London, and my favourite things, in so particular order – except the first – include such things as:
1) Watching my boyfriend do the crossword.
2) Listening to cricket on the radio.
3) Knitting with a purring cat on my lap, who chews my needles and plays with my yarn.
4) Baking, and then being able to share my baking with aforementioned boyfriend and cat (yes, cat, he’s a muffin-loving fiend!).
5) Reading and being inspired by amazing blogs (ahem, that means you!)
6) Dozing in bed on a lazy Sunday morning with a pot of coffee, a baked treat and the papers.
7) Strolling in the sunshine (when we actually get some)
Pub lunches that involve games of scrabble.
I could go on, and on….
How do I pick these winners? I don’t. I leave it to my friends to randomly scroll through your comments with their eyes closed and one hand tied behind their backs. It’s a science…. mostly.
Thanks to all of you for playing along. Thanks for all your love and good vibes. More giveaways and surprises in the very near future. I just can’t help myself.

surely these cookies will make my wake up call more sweet
Whew! Glad to hear you had help. When I saw all the responses, I thought you’d be spending a week trying to pick a winner because they were all so wonderful!!! Now back to baking!
Now that you’ve chosen winners and there is no way I’ll win anything for saying this, I want to tell you, Joy, that YOU are one of my most favoritest things. I love when the RSS says you’ve added to your blog. I know I’ll have my tastebuds tantalized and eyes and heart opened by a sweet person with a loving giving personality. I wish you lived closer so I could give you a hug in person on those, hit the snooze button a zillion times, days. But I can’t. All I can tell you is that they’re coming at you nearly every day through this silly computer monitor.
Oh, other favorite things:
AnnieCat, food (some folks call it baking or cooking…I call it playing with my food), Anticipation, food (sweet, sticky, gooey something that barely makes it from pan to mouth…totally skipping plating), Fiber (as in wool, cotton, bamboo, alpaca…), food (savory, crispy-crunchy outsides, soft sensuous insides bursting with flavor), One eyed wonder dog, …and food. And YOU.
Thanks Joy. You really are.
Oh, aren’t you a dear??
You, too, help us out with your wonderful food, great text and mouthwatering photos, Joy.
Oh are those the cookies folks will get!? Oh lurdy, they are delightful.
So cute. Congrats to the winners! Just reading about people’s favorite things brightened up my day. I love Jennifer’s idea of eating coconut cream from the can. Strangely, the idea has never occurred to me, even though I use it in a lot of recipes.
so fun! i loved reading all of their favorite things.
i think i have to go back chocolate chip cookies now and WISH them into being joy the baker cookies.
so i have a request… if i might.
my mom and sissies are sugar-free babes and i want to send them a carepackage so badly. i haven’t come across any AWESOME sugar-free treats yet… i bet you have something up your sleeve that i could use for a mother’s day treat to send my mama. concider it a challenge. i don’t want to use a ton of splenda either. i know, i’m picky.
i love your blog! i check it every day… several times a day.
Reading that article made me so hungry for cookies! I will definitely let my next batch of cookie dough rest for the full day if not the whole 36 hours.
AND! I love your picture of the brown sugar. My mum is known for her chocolate chip cookies and growing up she always put a smidge of brown sugar in my mouth while baking.
Congrats to the winners!

I thinks it’s pretty fun to come up with a new “favorite things” list at least once a week and each week list different things from the week before. This is a fantastic contest and congrats to all the winners!
Oh my goodness, I won! A bonus winner too. Thank you so much. See, now I have to make your chocolate chip cookies using the spatulas!
I meant it when I said you spoil us, and I didn’t just mean with your competitions, but with your writing and your recipes. You really do let a little bit of joy into my life every morning when I read.
I think you should win something Joy, so in return for the bonus spatulas, I shall post a little bit of something to you all the way from London. Deal?
So, these cool spatulas… where can the rest of us buy them? Good spatulas are so hard to find.
Oooh, you lucky winners, you! I love your blog, Joy. It makes me smile everyday.
I also covet your measuring cups….so awesome!
I just wanted you to know that not only do I love the wonderful recipes and great pictures you post, I love reading your cleverly written stories and posts. I feel like you are a good friend. Thanks for always brightening my days
Congrats to the winners!!
Oh lucky lucky winners.
Oh, well, next time.
Hey, I didn’t even leave a comment on that post… That makes it 0% chances to win? But… there were 640-something before me…
mmmmmm.. i just browsed your blog and want to spend all day cooking. I love your photos and food choices.
wondered how you were going to make it through *all* of those entries!!
congrats to the winners.
I read your post about the cookies and spatulas as I was sitting in the kitchen and just happened to look over at the dish drain to see three red spatulas. I love my red spatulas also. I was also inspired to bake chocolate chip cookies and had them out on Easter. I think they were a hit since they were inhaled before my eyes. Thanks for an awesome blog and bringing a little joy to my day.
Such a shame I didn’t discover your site until today, Joy! What well deserving winners you’ve chosen. I love what I’ve seen of your blog so far. Joy is a very apt name for you, I must say
Looking forward to reading more.
I think I might try the cookie recipe sometime over the weekend. i’m on a mission to see how many chocolate chip recipes i can bake. then the difficult part is trying to remember which one i liked best.
Those cookies look delicious. So chocolatey. I think I’ll be trying your recipe very soon!
In a search for perfectly portable desserts, I just went through your website. The. Entire. Thing. I’m doing the Chocolate Vanilla Bean Cookies and the Peanut Butter Fudge Treats. BUT now all I want is anything in loaf, cake, muffin, or cookie form that I just spent the last way-too-long drooling over. Warning to anyone else who risks the same: browse when you’re too close to bedtime to preheat the oven or early enough in the day that you can. I’m somewhere in the middle, and it’s torture. Thank you, Joy.
The cookies look great and congrats to the winners!
Congrats to the winners! I guess I will have to bake my own cookies
Joy, you’re one of my favorite bloggers on a human level because your personality comes through every post. You’re so sweet and such a warm person that the amazing photography and recipes is just a bonus. Thanks
Congrats to all the winners
Enjoy the goodies, im jealous ;p
I’ve still got the s’more brownies on the brain and now more talk of chocolate chip cookies. I’m going to have to have my husband pick dessert for the weekend. Either way he chooses, I know I’ve got something good to snack on.
Congrats to the winners.
Give the cookie recipe a try. i made them this morning. they are delicious. mine spread out a little more, so they’re a skinny cookie. that’s less calories, right?
Super cool! Thanks!!
OMG! These look amazing. I cant wait to try them. I love your site. Its so well done!
Malini
What a time to get caught up in reading (another favorite thing) books instead of hopping around in my favorite foodblogging sites.
Thank you so very much for the price
How do I claim it? *giggles**sends email**
lots of love

Oops! My real name got in there instead of the nickname i was using!
Salmiak from Stockholm again…
Thank you again!
Is there a cook book by this person…I would love to buy it if there is
