Joy the Baker Handmade Aprons
Written by joythebaker on December 1, 2009 – 12:32 am -Aprons. Aprons. ApronsApronsAprons!
We made aprons. We bought the fabric. We cut the patterns. We sewed and stitched and sewed and stitched and sewed and stitched about a million (ok… just fifty) times over. Maybe ‘we’ is a bit too liberal. My darling and most talented mother made each and every one of these aprons. Where I can work wonders with a spatula, she can work wonders with a sewing machine. Please don’t make me sew anything… I just make myself bleed.
So here’s the plan. I want you to have fun in the kitchen making Cream Cheese Cinnamon Rolls or whipping up a batch of Oatmeal Cookie Pancakes. I also want you to look cute, and feel pretty, and not be afraid to get in there and get some bakin’ done… even if that means dirtying every single dish and emerging from the kitchen covered in flour. Do it! I think a fun little apron might help.
For you pleasure, I’ve even made an Etsy store to showcase Joy the Baker Aprons. Sweeeeet!
All aprons are 100% cotton, one size fits darn near everyone… and bonus: each apron comes nicely wrapped for your gift giving pleasure. Supplies are limited. The fabric is flying.
My Mom took this picture with my cellphone. See? Proof of cuteness. Aaaaand… go!

Oh. My. Goodness. These are so adorable, Joy! I’m incredibly impressed with your mom’s handwork :] I just may have to get myself one of these super cute aprons.
Oh Joy! Too cute!! Your mom is a pretty talented gal!
I would like to buy one, but I’m quite a bit bigger than “one size fits most.” I want one of your ditsy-flowered, super-cute aprons, though. Any plans to make a larger size?
Or, I should say, how long is the sash with which you tie?
They’re darling! I’m sure they’re going to go fast!
Very cute aprons! I LOVE them!
I love that apron! I love bright colors. I never wear aprons, tho. I probably should start because I get everything covered in flour.
What an adorable apron! I’m guilty of hardly ever wearing an apron… but I just might if I had a cute one like this
.
Absolutely beautiful! The apron is very pretty too
I love this, your mom is so talented. I get so messy though I need a full apron, any chance she will be making any of those??
These must be the cutest aprons I’ve ever seen, you’re great!
Besides I particularly love aprons, since Iuse them quite a lot, baking ca be a messy hobby.
XXX
Oh, there’s nothing like a sweet looking apron to help us work wonders at the stove/oven!!
Nice aprons, but not really my style so I’ll leave an one for someone else. Now on the other hand, the model is spectacular… sigh, if only I was a few decades younger!
Gorgeous! And the apron is cute too. ha! Love the style. Price is good for the quality of work. Kudos to Momma!
These are so cute…and you have the prettiest smile.
Adorable, just adorable!
oh my god…these are ADORABLE.
cute aprons–way to go ‘mom’! why is it the talented food bloggers are always slender?!?
They are super cute ! Congratulations
Look at that tiny little waist! And the apron is super cute, too.
Reminds me of something my mom used to make!!!
Oh Joy I just love the aprons!! I have been collecting vintage aprons for a few years now, I probably have over 50. My most prized one is from the early 1900s, the only difference is how small their waists were compared to ours!! Probably because they were making cream cheese cinnamon rolls ;D
I love it! I’m glad you had the last picture…definitely made a big difference! (Yay for camera cell phones.)
So cute! I just got a new sewing machine… hmm…
I’m so jealous of people who can make half-aprons work. They are ADORABLE. But my #1 problem with cooking is getting things on my top half, so I always have to wear full aprons. I don’t know what my problem is!
How cute! I love the mix of the fabrics.
Aprons!!! Cute, cute cute!
awww~
they’re adorable!
love ‘em! do you (or your mom haha) also make the ones that cover the upper body? like a full-length one? i would buy one if so…
Wow!! I love ‘em!!
Such a cute apron! You look darling in it.
Cuteness!
Very cute! When I bake, I wipe my hands on my pants repeatedly! An apron might help…
Wow. You are so talented and cute too!!!! Awesome job and colors with the apron.
didn’t know you had an Etsy site – great to know. I love aprons, especially those that have a vintage-y feel, and these fit the bill. ADORABLE. Great work to the we – you know, your mama
aw man i wish we had $ right now i would SO buy one! adorable joy, as always
– hugs from cleveland
They ARE cute! I may just purchase one as a gift for my little sister.
You are too adorable. I love aprons!
Cute!
I love the little floral pocket!
Awww!! that apron is cuuute!!
girl, you look awesome! i’m so checking out your etsy shop right now!
Joy – these are precious. I was thinking to myself: “hm…I wish I really was enough of a baker to invest in something like this…” and then I realized that I need to own it! I’m a baker and I want an apron!
Oh, soooooo pretty and special! Love the fun mix of fabrics!!
Reminds me of when my sister and I had my MIL over several years ago (she came to visit from out of state). My sister presented “Mom” with an apron she had made just for the occasion. Mom taught us how to make her pierogis (3 different varieties & NO written recipes!) and some homemade noodles (Polish-style). We made enough pierogis for everybody in the family to take home to their freezers Mom is in a nursing home now, but those pierogis are constantly being requested by all. We have many fine and fond memories of that day. And my sister made a bunch of aprons after that to gift and to sell at a craft fair.
I’m gonnna definately bug my sister to come up with some more aprons and get together to make some pierogis. She’s been down about what to “buy for just about nothing” for presents – so here ya go, right!!?
Very cute! I’ve been thinking about making some of those as Christmas gifts myself. Alas, I have yet to get around to it. So many good intentions so little time. I may need to pick up a couple of yours.
love love love
i want one. they’re adorable. maybe a happy christmas present to myself?
serious cuteness.
I have been waiting for these & they were worth the wait. Lovely!
Wow, those are super cute! I love aprons! Makes baking even that more fun:)
I really wish I could sew my own! I’m soo jealous…..I may have to break down and purchase them instead of trying to sew my own….they are lovely!
these are adorable! I don’t actually wear and apron but if it’s as cute as these then I just might use it.
