Joy the Baker. The Podcast, 1.

February 26th, 2008

I love to cook. I like to share. I have watched countless hours of cooking shows, and I have a camera. All of those things can only add up to one thing: I made a podcast!

My first leap into podcast land is with Brown Sugar Apple Cheesecake. You’ll see the cake made from start to finish. You’ll see my beloved Kitchen Aid mixer. You’ll see my dorky face saying dorky things.

(If you don’t see a video player above, you may need to upgrade your Flash Player.) I know… don’t shake your fist at me! Just in case, here is a YouTube version (lower quality) of the same podcast after the jump.

I’d love to hear what you think! Let me know if you love it, or if I should go kick rocks. You can find the post and recipe for Dorie Greenspan’s Brown Sugar Apple Cheesecake here. Stay tuned for Poddcast 2: Fondant

Serious Apple Yum.

Wow! And then again - WOW!! Where can I start? The video was so professionally made and edited, you are beautiful and did the podcast gracefully, like everyone else before me said - you are a natural! And last but not least - I loved the way you tweaked with the recipe. Waiting breathless for your next, this one was a delight to watch (and a good way to finally “meet” you :)

Joy, I’m seriously impressed by the quality of your podcast! Especially as I’ve done small video things myself and never felt happy about the quality when viewed online. Would you like to tell me what kind of output settings you used?
Looking forward to seeing the next one!

  30. Lucy on March 2, 2008 6:28 am

wow that was so interesting being able to actually see the cheesecake being made and i love the idea of having less middle and more crust because the crust is obviously the best bit! please carry on doing these podcasts and posting them on your blog for those who want to watch but do not have a video ipod! fondant sounds interesting too next time!

  31. Katia on March 4, 2008 6:00 pm

Hi, first things first- You are just precious and the video is wonderful! I just found your blog today and have really enjoyed it. keep up the good work! :)

  32. Nikki on March 5, 2008 8:32 am

I’m way behind on getting through my google reader posts, but OMG Joy, that was amazing! You did such a great job hun and you’re adorable! I love it, you need to make millions of these hehe

My only complaint is that my hubs watched it with me. The week TWD made the apple cheesecake my stove was broken, so it didn’t get made. G saw the gingersnaps and was like “Hey, I bought you gingersnaps to make this … when do I get it?” So thanks, right in the middle of MB baking you remind my hubs of the delights he missed out on :P

  33. joythebaker on March 5, 2008 12:53 pm

Nikki- Tell your hubby to wait a spell, and enjoy his MB cinnamon for the time being!

  34. Judy and Dan on March 10, 2008 11:55 am

Joy–what can we say!!? Your podcast was just amazing and I feel like I was right there with you. Wish I could have some of that cheesecake right now! You make your aunt and uncle proud. :-)
    Love ya’, J and D

  35. Claudia on March 12, 2008 7:39 pm

Great job! You are a natural on camera, like you’ve been doing it for years. That cheesecake looked so good my mouth was watering. Kudos to you Joy you are doing GREAT!!

    P.S.
    What a kitchen, Beautiful!

  36. chriesi on March 17, 2008 7:59 am

  38. Rachelle ~ "Mommy? I'm Hungry!" on March 19, 2008 11:46 pm

What a great video! Loved it! (love your kitchen too, I have the same stand mixer, don’t you hate how hard it is sometimes to pour the ingredients into the bowl when mixing!)

  39. Cliff on March 20, 2008 10:04 am

Joy, that was a marvelous podcast–very easy-to-follow instructions. You should be on TV. Keep up the good work and the mouth-watering recipes.

  40. S on March 25, 2008 3:35 am

  42. Holly on March 27, 2008 6:43 pm

Yea! So good. I would rather watch you on Food Network (than some other lame-o’s I won’t mention)

  43. Cecilia on April 14, 2008 10:50 pm

Awesome podcast! I thought you did a great job engaging the audience through the camera and coming off as pretty natural. The quality of the film was excellent (did you use a regular hand-held camera?), and the transitions were good. I can’t wait for the next podcast!

  44. Michelle on May 7, 2008 9:19 pm

Loved it and your recipe looks fabulous!!! Thanks.

  45. R. on May 8, 2008 6:50 pm

    Joy…

You did such an incredible job… And the camera loves you… Seeing you in real time (of sorts) makes me miss you all the more…

You’re great. And I am totally stealing these recipes…

    I love you,

    D.

  51. Panda on July 18, 2008 9:36 pm

Joy, why the hell don’t you have your own show? It baffles me. I work in advertising and one of our clients happens to be the Food Network and I’ve seen a few of their pilot shows, and you blow them away! Giada’s got nothin’ on you!

  52. Theresa on August 18, 2008 7:23 am

Great job on your first podcast. Looked very professional You go girl!
