Thank You! Want a Cookie?

May 1st, 2008

Please allow me to take a break from the usual photo and recipe post to tell you all how fabulous you are!

I only started Joy the Baker about 5 months ago.  In those short months, I have connected with fellow food lovers from around the world.  The response has been truly heart warming.  The praise, support and inspiration has really changed my life.

Thank you!  Thank you for visiting so loyally.  Thank you for reading, drooling and commenting.  Thank you for trying my recipes and telling me about your successes and oopsies.  Thank you for all of the laughs and inspiration that you have unknowingly provided me.

The only real way to say thank you is with cookies.  These Red Velvet Black and White Cookies have gone off the charts in their popularity on this site.  So, three lucky Joy the Baker readers will find these little beauties in their mail boxes- a thank you from me to you!  All you have to do is a leave a comment on this post, and I’ll pick at least three random names, ship them off, and you’ll enjoy cookies!  Go on, leave me a comment.  Tell me something good.

Thanks again for all of your support!  It means so much to me!

  3. steph (whisk/spoon) on May 1, 2008 7:29 pm

  4. Merav on May 1, 2008 7:30 pm

    Hope you keep writing. :)

  11. Barbara on May 1, 2008 7:52 pm

Who wouldn’t love to get these cookies in the mail! I am off to Italy for my 30th Wedding Anniversary and my 25-year-old daughter is taking care of her siblings while we are gone, so no one will be home to bake for them. So they could use a cookie care package in the mail. Thanks!

  12. CB on May 1, 2008 7:53 pm

Joy the baker rocks! Your photographs are stunning, recipes are fabulous and you are too cute in your podcasts. Now gimme my cookies! LOL

  16. Lyrical Soul on May 1, 2008 8:41 pm

It was the oatmeal sandwich cookies that brought me here, and the beautiful recipes and the friendly tone of your writing that made me stay. I love the pictures, and the recipes, just everything.

I do lurk here, but even when I have 100 blog posts to read, I never skip yours, because your techniques fascinate me.

    And those cookies look delish!

  17. Courtney on May 1, 2008 9:06 pm

Thanks for blogging about your adventures in baking. You’ve actually managed to help me conquer my fear of baking to try some of your recipes, which is a big accomplishment!

Today, I believe it’s chocolate pudding time. :-)

  27. Nila on May 2, 2008 4:24 am

I ran across your blog only a few weeks ago and immediately added the rss feed. Not only are your recipes terrific, but I really enjoy your writing style. It makes for an enjoyable read — on two fronts!

  28. Stephanie on May 2, 2008 4:32 am

Your unbelievably great photos and recipes pale in comparison to how well your personality comes out in your blog! And did I mention how much I love black and white cookies AND red velvet cake? These cookies were made for me! And I won’t even shamelessly bring up the fact that April was my birthday :)

  29. Madam Chow on May 2, 2008 4:46 am

Only five months?! Your blog is part of my daily reading!

  30. Caitlin on May 2, 2008 5:10 am

It’s so funny - even though you’ve only been at it 5 months (it’s only four for me I think), I agree - you’re one of my daily reads. I love your photos, and while I find red velvet black and whites sort of blasphemous, I’ve been sorely tempted. In fact, the recipe is starred in my Google Reader, just waiting for my willpower to crumble….

  31. Luce on May 2, 2008 5:31 am

Only 5 months?! I only started reading your blog a couple of weeks ago and already tried two recipes with 100% sucess!
The photos, the yumminess of everything….
Those look great and I’m sure to try them pretty soon :)

  40. Carrie on May 2, 2008 6:59 am

These cookies bring back such memories. My grandfather, who passed away this past January, had a special connection with me and these cookies. He lived in NY, and I live in VA - and let me tell ya, these babies are hard to come by in VA. Anyway, each time I would go to NY, he would take me to the cutest little shop in town to get a cookie, and he’d get a few more to package up so I could take them home. He knew black and white cookies (we called them half-moons) are my favorite. When this little shop closed, he would search for days when he knew I was coming up to find me some half-moon cookies to enjoy on my trip. So you see, these cookies hold a very special place in my heart as they will always remind me of my grandfather. Thanks for posting this recipe, I can’t wait to make them.

  41. Steph on May 2, 2008 7:00 am

My blog has been around for a few months as well and I can entirely relate to you–I never expected the warm reception and didn’t appreciate how much I would enjoy the whole food blogging experience. Glad to have you be a part of that community. :-)

    Hi Joy!
I love this blog because it’s about all things that I love, dessert and breakfast! I can’t wait to see what you’ve made every day. One question, what do you do with all of the stuff that you bake? I’ve already been called a food pusher at work, but I love to bake. Too bad there are only two of us in my house.

  86. superluckykitchen on May 3, 2008 5:41 pm

I stumbled your site, but it’s been added to my favorites. Actually, today I made the lemon whoopie cookies… which where devoured in record time by my friends. I managed to hide all of one for myself. I haven’t decided what I’m going to try next, but it’s probably safe to say that I will slowly work my way through the better part of your recipes.

    Thanks!
